SEEDS was founded in 2016 when a small group of us came together in Baltimore to 'dream up' a new organization for science education focused on equity, diversity, and social-environmental-ecological justice . Our vision was to give life to an organization that could build and sustain connections across educators, community organizers, activists and others toward the common goal of effecting transformative change for social  justice in and through science education. Consistent with this vision, our annual conference promotes the authentic sharing of ideas and practices through non-traditional presentation formats, in ways that elicit generative feedback from others, so that we continue to grow together in the direction of more equitable and just futures. Since our first meetings in 2016, our organization has grown from a small group of 12 to over 300 members, and have convened 2 face-to-face and 3 virtual conferences.
